St. Jerome's Day Conference at University of Budapest

The Centre of Modern Languages (BME) of Budapest University of Technology and Economics and proford (the Hungarian association of translation companies) held a conference to celebrate St. Jerome's Day with the participation of EUATC.

 

Juan José Arevalillo, Vice-president of EUATC, gave the keynote address "Market-Higher Education cooperation schemes from an international perspective", which covered the European scenario of cooperation between the HE centres and the translation companies.

The conference was also a part of the beginning of eTransFair, a project funded by EU's Erasmus+ programme, whose consortium is formed by the University of Budapest, the University of Vienna and Hermes Traducciones (a member of ASPROSET, the Spanish Association of Translation Companies). This project aims at providing translator trainees with the skills that are necessary for employability and provide trainers with ICT-based innovative teaching and assessment tools that help develop these skills, and also provid¡ng collaborative platforms and a set of manuals to make the results transferable to other higher education institutions and sustainable in the long run.
