After the meeting of ISO TC37 committee held at Copenhagen last June, the changes in the translator qualifications were approved by all the national representatives, which means that ISO-17100 standard has reached its final version. This is very important as it impacts the way in which certified companies must comply with those requirements so that the translators' qualifications allow to provide a service under this standard. Those qualifications are as follows:
a) a degree in translation, linguistics or language studies or an equivalent degree that includes significant translation training, from a recognized institution of higher education;
b) a degree in any other field from a recognized institution of higher education and has the equivalent of two years of full-time professional experience in translating;
c) has the equivalent of five years of full-time professional experience in translating.
