Step Outside the Box: Visioning the NextGen Language Industry
The shift in date to 22 – 23 May, which had been previously announced at the end of last year’s Summit held in Helsinki, has come about to avoid a clash with the inaugural event organised by the Southern Europe Translation & Interpretation Forum (SETIF). It had been scheduled to take place in Lisbon a week before the Summit.
In a spirit of collaboration, representatives of APET, the EUATC and of SETIF, quickly came together to find a solution to avoid the diary clash.
The result has been a new date for the Summit in Lisbon and the launch of SETIF – the Spring edition of the Nordic Translation & Interpretation Forum (NTIF) to be integrated as part of the overall conference.
Speaking about the development, APET President Marta Aragão (left) said: “Delaying the Summit by a week to be able include the exciting prospect of involving SETIF and its driving force Anne-Marie Colliander Lind, was, in the end, a no brainer! Together we will deliver an even stronger event than was originally planned.”
Anne-Marie Colliander Lind (right) said: “Conference organisers always try their hardest
to avoid diary clashes and, as soon as it became obvious there was one, I reached out to APET and the EUATC to find a solution that worked for everyone.
“A spirit of collaboration has always existed in the language industry so it was easy to arrive at a win-win solution for everyone. I am really pleased that SETIF has been given such a really solid base as its launch pad.”
EUATC President Heike Leinhäuser (left) said: “I couldn’t agree more with Marta Aragão and Anne-Marie’s words. It would not have served the industry to have two language industry events a week apart in the same city. Now we have a sound basis to move forward to deliver a ground-breaking event in the beautiful city of Lisbon.”
The Summit will take place in Eurostars Lisboa, Parque das Nações from 22nd to 23rd May.
