Meet Central Europe to go green in Innsbruck

Meet Central Europe goes eco-conference

The Meet Central Europe (MCE) conference, which was launched in 2018 by four EUATC members from Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic with the support of EUATC funding, is to go green for its 2020 event in Innsbruck.

Commenting Trisha Kovacic-Young, President of the Austrian Association of Translation Companies (AATC) said: “With the World Economic Forum‘s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report commending Austria for the high standards its Eco-Label, we certainly did not want to let the side down, so we will be striving to make our conference as eco-friendly and green as possible.

“Over the coming months we will be offering guidance for delegates and sponsors about how they can help reduce Meet Central Europe’s carbon footprint.”

Last month’s MCE in Prague attracted more than 400 attendees and the organisers are expecting that the upward trajectory will continue when the event moves on to Innsbruck.

Talking on the growth of the event, Radka Vegrichtova, President of the Association of Czech Translation Agencies which hosted the Prague conference, said: “We were thrilled to have welcomed attendees from over 40 countries to our capital city. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, which has been very rewarding for all the volunteers who have devoted so much time developing the programme content and getting the message out.”
