European Parliament’s Directorate-General for Translation (DG TRAD), which published a new call for tenders for translation into 19 target languages last month has extended the deadline to respond to 16th April. The languages sought are: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Portuguese, Slovak, Slovenian and Swedish.

The European Parliament is the leading institution in this inter-institutional call for tenders bringing together the outsourcing needs of four EU institutions and bodies: the EP itself, the European Court of Auditors, the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Committee of the Regions.

For each target language or lot, the call envisages the signature of up to five framework contracts to enter into force from January 2020. The contracts will be renewable annually and last for a maximum of five years.

The tender specifications state that the institutions are looking for highly qualified and experienced translation service providers who can deliver the best quality translations ready to use and delivered on time.

The contracts will be awarded on the basis of the price bid per standard page and the quality of the tender to be assessed by means of a translation project management test.

The contract notice and tender documents are published on the Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) platform at:

The deadline for submission of tenders is 16 April 2019.
