THE WORLD'S NEWEST TRANSLATION COMPANY ASSOCIATION

On October 15th the latest language industry association is scheduled to go live. The driving force behind the Confederation of Indian Translation & Localization Companies is Sandeep Nulkar, CEO of EUATC Network member, BITS Private India.
"We are very grateful for the support we have received from the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies for its generosity in sharing documentation, which we have localized and formed a section 8 company.  This is the least complicated and flexible legal structure under Indian company law for a new association such as ours.

"The new association will start operations with five of the most important LSPs operating in India. Apart from BITS Private Limited, these are Mayflower Language ServicesCrystal HuesBraahmam and Fidel Tech.

"The new association will be affliated with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce. The new association will be making representations through the Federation to the Indian government, which has such an impact on the language industry.

"In the first instance, because the Indian market is so fragmented, we will not be setting entry criteria too high. Very few LSPs are ISO accredited yet.  However, our longterm aim is to educate and raise the threshold gradually.

"We will be launching with the five most influential LSPs, but the founding members believe that membership potential could be between 100 and 150 companies," Sandeep told T-UPDATE.
