Christos Ellinides (left), Director-General for Translation at the European Commission, will launch a Translating Europe Workshop (TEW), when the results of the 2026 European Language Industry Survey are announced.The annual survey, now in its 13th year, opened its response portal at the beginning of January. The portal will remain open until midnight on Saturday, 31st January. Anyone completing the survey questionnaire may register their interest in attending the TEW.
The survey has five pathway strands covering:
- LSCs
- Freelance professionals
- Language departments or language service buyers working in a public administration or private enterprise
- Training institute (teacher, manager or researcher in a higher education institute
- Students in a translation or interpreting-related training programme.
ELIS was originally initiated by European Union of Associations of Translation Companies (EUATC) and is now a joint initiative by international language industry associations and organisations. Apart from the EUATC, those participating are the European Language Industry Association (Elia), the European Master’s in Translation (EMT), the European Regional Centre of the International Federation of Translators (FIT Europe), the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), the European Commission’s Language Industry Platform (LIND) and Women in Localization (WiL).Survey participants will be able to pre-register for the event after submitting their responses to the survey.
