EU RELATIONS

shaping the future

The EUATC is a key partner for a number of EU institutions – particularly the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) in Brussels.

Over the years the EUATC has either actively participated or been consulted on initiatives linked to DGT, the Erasmus Programme and the European Commission. Among the most important are:

  • OPTIMALE: optimizing professional translator training in a multilingual Europe

  • TRANSCERT: trans-European voluntary certification for translators

  • QUALETRA: quality in legal translation

  • AGORA: transnational placement scheme for translation students

  • European Master’s in Translation

  • Civil Society Platform on multilingualism

  • LIND-Web: language industry web platform

Apart from EU institutions, the EUATC maintains strong links to a number of European and global language groupings, including Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs (FIT), Globalization & Localization Association (GALA), European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association (EULITA) and Conference Internationals Permanente D’Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interpretes (CUITI).

The LIND-Web project is fully operational and the EUATC is actively supporting it and participating in meetings held at the offices of DGT in Brussels. The Association also plays an active role in the Translation Europe Forum – the 600 strong conference hosted by the European Commission in Brussels.
