Mr. Lorenz Aries, optimAS group

Lorenz Aries has a technical/commercial background. He has been involved in technical sales for oil hydraulic systems, import / export of electronic components, assembly technology, and direct sales and telemarketing. Since 1988, Lorenz Aries is the owner of the optimAS group, which provides CRM consultancy, training and coaching services. He teaches CRM processes at SAWI Dübendorf, TEKO Luzern, and has developed a CRM Manual for Translation Service Providers (currently only in German).

Mr. Doug Lawrence, Amicus TransTec Ltd.

Doug Lawrence is a sought-after international speaker with an engaging style that is energetic, informative, and based on almost 20 years in the translation industry; having held several international sale roles with leading translation companies and a translation tool vendor.
Mr. Lawrence is a passionate advocate for the professional translation industry, working to raise its profile and promote the value chain mentality in clients, translation companies, freelancers and educators.
Lawrence founded the UK’s leading independent translation technology consulting company, Amicus TransTec, in 2006. In 2007 Lawrence created the industry’s leading sales training programme Selling Translations™ which now consists of 20 courses and has been completed in various forms by over 1000 translation professionals from across the globe. Selling Translations™ has been approved by the UK ATC, UK ITI and ProZ.com.
When not delivering training or running Amicus TransTec, Lawrence works for the UK Government as an Export Communications Consultant for UK small and medium sized businesses, as well as being a sessional lecturer on the Master in Translation Studies at Aston University. He is also a Business Language Champion visiting schools and encouraging children to study languages. Lawrence is one of the UK's Principal Experts to ISO TC 37 and is a qualified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
Lawrence holds a BSc in Computer Science and an MBA. He lives in the UK with his wife and daughter and enjoys keeping fit with running, yoga and resistance training. He is a keen amateur linguist, learning a little of the language of each country he visits.

Mr. Reiner Heard, Head of Foreign Language Services, E.ON Ruhrgas AG and Chairman of the FIT Europe steering committee

Born in England in 1954, Reiner Heard obtained a BA Hons degree in European
Studies from Bath University in 1976. After working for a translation
company in Cologne, he joined the translation department of the German
Foreign Office in Bonn in 1979. Following several years of service as a
translator and reviser, he became assistant head of the terminology section
and sat on German standardisation committees. Since 1992 he has been in
charge of foreign language services at an energy company in Essen. He
participates in a benchmarking committee comprising heads of translation
departments. He has also been president of the German translators and
interpreters association ATICOM for quite a few years (his responsibilities
there have included external relations and professional development). In
2008 he was elected chairman of the steering committee for the European
section of the International Federation of Translators (FIT Europe).

Mr. Luboš Pavlas, Country Manager, the CEZ Group, Bulgaria

Luboš Pavlas, 52 years old, has a technical/financial background, graduated at CVUT Prague (economy and management in energy sector). He has been involved in district heating, co/generation of electricity and distribution of electricity as well, mostly in Prague, Czech Republic. He worked as expert and also as manager. With international experience from Euro Heat&Power association and trained in Germany, Denmark, Finland and USA. Since 2005 he joined the CEZ acquisition team in Romania as expert (regulatory agenda, business development and corporate governance) and since 2007 he is CEZ Group country manager in Bulgaria. Experience in project management, human resources and team creating, leadership, corporate governance, financial management, investment and technology.

Ms. Leena Peltomaa, Customer Service Director, AAC Global 

Leena Peltomaa has lead, co-ordinated and resourced large, international energy sector translation projects as a project manager and director. Her company, AAC Global, has in recent years been involved as LSP in several international nuclear power and gas related translation projects, one of which is estimated to be the largest translation project ever carried out in Finland.

Mr. Klaus Ahrend, Head of Unit, European Commission, Directorate General for Translation, Unit S. 02 - External Translation

Klaus Ahrend was born on 7 January 1961 in Dortmund (Germany); he is married and has two sons. After studying translation at Hildesheim University, he worked as a translator in the German aerospace industry. In 1991, he joined the European Commission where he since then has worked in the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). Starting as a translator, he later became involved in financial and contract management related to external translation where he was appointed deputy head of unit in 2003. After managing DGT's unit for Interinstitutional Relations and General Affairs between 2004 and 2006, he has been head of the External Translation unit since March 2006.

Mr. Carl Hackman, (LLB Hons), Barrister, CCI Legal Services Ltd

Qualified as a barrister in 1990. Worked in private independent practice until 2005.

From 2005 to date he is the CEO of CCI Legal Services Ltd which specialises in UK and international commercial collections and litigation. In 2006 he also became the European Director of Global Credit Solutions which specialises in global credit risk management. He has lectured and taught widely on matters relating to credit.

Ms. Adriane Rinsche, Managing Director, Language Technology Centre Ltd

Dr. Adriane Rinsche has a PhD in Computational Linguistics from Bonn University, Germany. She founded the Language Technology Centre (LTC) in 1992, a limited company based in London and incorporated in Washington DC. In April 2009, LTC became part of a group of companies under the umbrella of STAR HOLDING Ltd with Dr. Rinsche as majority shareholder. Under Dr. Rinsche’s leadership, LTC  continues to operate as a multilingual consultancy, service and software distribution company whereas software design, development and support was transferred to Agile Web Solutions Ltd. with offices in London and Bonn, Germany. Dr. Rinsche has operational responsibility for the group and co-ordinates LTC's business development activities, all internal and EU funded research and development projects, market studies and trials.

Ms. Penny Marinou, President of the EUATC, founder and general partner of Litterae translations

BSc Economics/Sociology, University of Bristol, UK; MSc Environmental Resources, University of Salford, UK; DEA & Doctorat en Géographie Humaine, Université d’Aix-Marseille II, France. Established her first translation company in Athens in 1997, after a career in the Hellenic Civil Service and the European Commission. Penny Marinou is a founding member of the Hellenic Association of Translation Companies (PASMEE) and has served as President of the association for several years; she is currently the Vice-President. Vice-President of the British-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Eva-Maria Leitner, Vice president of the EUATC, founder of mss language solutions 

Graduated from the University of Vienna, Institute for Translation and Interpreting, in 1993. In 1994, she founded mss language solutions, a translation company specialising in natural and medical sciences, technology, medical technology, IT and telecommunications. Since the year 2000, she is the elected Chair Person of Austrian Translation Service Providers within the Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), and since 2005 she is the Austrian representative to the EUATC. Since 2006 she chairs the Committee for Language Services within the Austrian Standards Institute and she was the head of the Austrian delegation to CEN during the development of EN 15038. Currently she is head of the Austrian delegation to ISO TC 37, SC2, WG6 where she is the project leader of the new ISO project “Translation Assessment”. She is lecturer at the University of Vienna and currently writing a thesis on “Quality Management in Translation”. Moreover, she is the chair person of Language Standards for Global Business summit (LSGB).

Ms. Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola, Managing Director, Maris Translations Oy

Graduate from the University of Helsinki, Department of Translation Studies where she studied English and Swedish translation.
Senior translator in Trantex Oy (later known as Mendez and L&H Finland) between 1986 - 1997. English teacher in the Lahti Folk Highschool adult education institute and freelance translator in the late 1990s.
Co-founded the company Maris Translations, specialised in multilingual communication, in the Lahti Science and Business Park in 2001, and has worked as the managing director of the company since its foundation.

Active member of the Finnish Association of Translation Companies SKTOL since 2004, first as a secretary and later as vice-president until the end of 2008, and as president since January 2009. Webmaster of the EUATC since April 2009.

Mr. Nikolay Lazarov, Freelance translator and President/Owner of SOFITA Interpreting and Translation Agency Ltd.

Graduate in Architecture at the Sofia "Architecture and Constructions Institute" 1974, worked as an architect at the Institute of Urban Development, Sofia, until 1978. Working as a translator and interpreter at the "Tajoura Nuclear Research Centre" in Lybia, in early 1980s, as a translator/manager at the Translations Bureau with the Bulgarian Translators' Union, and as a freelance translator and Head of the Translations Bureau with the Bulgarian Translators' Union until 1989.

Member of the Bulgarian Translators' Union, “Technical translations” Section - 1984 (BTU). Founding Member of the Association of Interpreters and Translators in Bulgaria - 1997(AIT). Founding Member and President of the Bulgarian Association of Professional Interpreting and Translation Agencies – 2005 (BAPITA). Sworn translator - 1992.
