The EUATC’s annual rendez-vous took place in South-Eastern Europe this autumn on 15 and 16 October 2009. Our international conference was hosted by BAPITA, the Bulgarian association of translation companies, in Sofia, one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Think bigger - get global The power of energy and business creativity in a global context This event provided a wonderful opportunity for networking, which is one of the secrets of success in business, and exploring one of the newest members of the EU (Bulgaria joined in 2007). Nothing can replace face-to-face communication as a sound basis on which to build cooperation agreements and business partnerships. The 1st day of the conference highlighted the important role played by language service providers in society, based on the example of the energy sector. The topic was covered by speakers from the energy industry and the translation sector. The day closed with a special gala dinner at the Vodenitzata restaurant (the Mill) where conference participates were able to relax and network in a traditional Bulgarian setting. The 2nd day of the conference focused on business: staying sustainable in the tough economic environment and changing conditions. In addition to the annual conference, the EUATC offered a sales workshop organised by Doug Lawrence, Amicus TransTec Limited.
