EUATC 2008 International Conference in Paris

This year’s annual international conference was held in Paris on 20 and 21 November 2008. Following the outstanding success of the previous conferences, the theme of this year’s conference focused on two critical interfaces.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
Translation company owners, directors, quality managers, business development managers and translators from a wide range of countries including Argentina, Belgium, France, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the UK.

The conference was an exploration of the supply side of the business, including recruiting and motivating internal staff teams, training for the marketplace in cooperation with universities, technology and the critical relationships between Translation Companies and freelance translators.

The second focus was on the highly competitive issue of sales and the positioning of Translation Companies in a global market. Themes will include innovative approaches to marketing, key strategies, management tools and after-sales support and customer care issues.

In addition to hearing expert speakers on all these topics, the participants had the opportunity to take part in discussions on serious industry questions and get your voice heard by technology vendors, universities, the EU and freelance translators.

And of course there were excellent networking opportunities to enable people to meet old friends and build new business relationships with others. The participants had the opportunity to find out how to locate good quality translation students, select efficiency-building technologies, share best practice, gather information about funding, access sales and marketing tips and be part of our real-time industry surveys which took place during the conference.
